The Taste of Winter

Brrr! Scarves, boots and ugly holiday sweaters have been pulled out from the backs of closets. Your taste of winter in LA is here. Don't stay outside and freeze like an eskimo...these two delicious winter ideas are just what you need to keep cozy when you step out from hibernation. The last trace of chestnuts roasting on the streets of Los Angeles was at a booth in the Farmer's Market on Fairfax, back in 1988. They were Chinese chestnuts, which are smaller than traditional ones from Italy. Since then, the only chestnuts vendors you could find in Los Angeles were in the movies. But few things could be more comforting on a chilly evening.

That's why Mr. C in Beverly Hills is treating Angelinos and travelers alike, by offering vin burlé. The mulled wine is served with a bowl of roasted chestnuts every evening in the Lobby Lounge Bar from 5:00pm - 1:00am from now until the end of December.

A few minutes away, defrost your fingers and your tootsies by sitting next to the fireplace. You can bask in rustic ambiance at The Eveleigh with a mason jar of their Mezcal Eggnog. It's made with mezcal, Amantillado Sherry, cardamom, cream, eggs, and sugar. It's cold outside but, ooh, it is warm in here.
